DTC student in "I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out Of Here"
Doctoral Training Centre PhD student Rhodri Jenkins will soon be joining scientists from
around the country trying to win votes from curious schoolchildren.
The competition, which has run since 2008, enables young people to meet and talk to scientists, with the aim of inspiring them to study science later in their careers.
Rhod, who is currently researching biofuels for his doctorate, tells us of his excitement at the opportunity: “I’m very much looking forward to answering questions about my own research and the other areas of renewable energy production.
“I’d love to have been able to have this close an interaction with a science researcher when I was in school. I was the annoying kid at the back who always had his hand up in science classes! I’m looking forward to some of the students’ opinions about what the “answer’” to energy production might be, which will hopefully spark some lively debate.”
Rhod will be answering questions on how we can power the future in the Energy Zone. Also representing the University of Bath will be Jess Bean from the Department of Chemistry, Alberto Lapedriza from the Department of Biology & Biochemistry and Dr Joanna Bryson from the Department of Computer Science. A number of schools in and around Bath are taking part in the competition too.
