International/EU Students
Please contact Student Disability Advice as soon as you know you may be coming to the University of Bath. You will be asked to complete a student profile questionnaire which will help us to advise you regarding your potential support entitlement (and any additional costs involved).
Student Disability Advice
At Student Disability Advice, we welcome enquiries from any international/EU students (or potential international/EU students who have a disability, such as dyslexia or specific learning difficulty, medical health condition, sensory impairment, mobility difficulty or mental health difficulty.
If you contact us before you arrive at the University, or as early as possible after, we can assess your requirements and you will be given information on what support might be available and the potential costs involved. It is important to understand that international students (including EU students) are not entitled to the UK government support for students with disabilities (DSA).
Assessing Your Needs
Student Disability Advice can provide advice regarding support and in making alternative arrangements for examinations. Please speak to an Adviser, preferably in advance of starting your course.
Facilities and Equipment for Disabled Students
Once you have made contact with us and met with an Adviser, you will have access to the Assistive Technology room in the Library and Learning Centre. Computing facilities include voice-activated software, a page reading scanner, magnification and text management software and a Braille printer. Wireless laptops with assistive software can be made available on request, for loan.
Accessible Accommodation
Students with any additional requirements are encouraged to discuss their particular needs with the Student Accommodation TeamDyslexia Screening
International/EU students are entitled to an initial screening for dyslexia if needed. Please see an Adviser in Student Disability Advice to discuss your needs and for information about our screening programme. Please be aware that to receive a formal diagnosis of dyslexia you will need to have a full assessment by an Educational Chartered Psychologist. This assessment is carried out by an external organisation and all students are expected to pay for this.
If you require any further information or clarification on any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact us:
