Support in the Library & Assistive Technology

The University Library offers a range of services to support disabled students and an outline of these services can be found in the guide Library Services for Users with Disabilities . For more general information about the library please visit the main Library web page.

The Library and BUCS offer an assistive technology room on level 3 of the library.

Before you can begin to use this room, you must make contact with Student Disability Advice and meet with an adviser. We will advise the Library and your library card will then be updated by the Library to enable you to access the rooms.

If you are a student using Student Disability Advice, you may be able to borrow a wireless laptop with assistive software.  Types of software include screen readers, voice recognition software and mind mapping tools. a This service is available on a first come first served basis. If you need to borrow a laptop, please speak to a Disability Adviser.
