Supporting Disabled Students

The Student Disability Advice team is led by the Manager Susannah Doyle. Contact disabilityadvice@bath.ac.uk. We work in several locations across campus.
Student Disability Advice supports and advises prospective and existing students with disabilities and specific learning difficulties. All enquiries are treated on a confidential basis and staff may contact Student Disability Advice for advice regarding disabled students in confidence. Our services include:
- offering advice and guidance
- guidance on campus access - Disabled Go and campus access map is available
- screening for specific learning difficulties
- assessing student support entitlements
- supporting student applications for the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)
- providing advice to Iinternational and EU students about funding for support
- providing access to much of the support recommended by the assessment of needs report
- providing advice to staff supporting disabled students
Based on the Disability Discrimination Act, now the Equality Act 2010, the Equality Challenge Unit have put together a useful and informative document, providing guidance to academic staff on their responsibilities towards disabled students in the academic environment, with suggestions of reasonable adjustments.
The UK Higher Education Academy Physical Science Centre has produced an information pack for academics teaching students with Aspergers Syndrome and those who are d/Deaf students
