Taysom Evening & TeamBEST Ball
6 December 2011
The
Bath Economics Society
(TeamBEST) are delighted to have held the Taysom evening and TeamBEST Ball; a spectacular event
at the historic Pump Room & Roman Baths on Tuesday 6th December. TeamBEST really did live up to
their reputation for the BEST events in Bath through hosting the once-in-a-student-lifetime event
featuring a guest lecture, 2-course meal and a ball. The evening began with a drinks reception next
to the fire lit Roman Baths. The guests then moved on upstairs to the historic pump rooms where
they ate a delicious 2-course meal and heard a talk from Julie Meyer, an award winning
entrepreneur. This was followed by live music by ‘Suzie Hance’, ‘Lewis’ Angels’ and a DJ set from ‘
URB’.
TeamBEST would like to show their greatest appreciation to John Taysom, Ernst & Young and the University of Bath Economics Department whose support helped make sure that the event really was unforgettable.
“Julie's talk has really inspired me to be entrepreneurial”
Beth Noble
(University of Bath UG)
“I thought the overall event was fantastic, the location, food and entertainment were all
excellent and I really enjoyed myself. It was one of the best events I have attended (both during
my University time and Professional career) and it was great that Ernst and Young could be
involved.”
Tim Amey
(Ernst & Young)

We are happy to announce that the event raised an amazing £2337.40 for the charity project ‘ Business for Uganda’. ‘ Business for Uganda’ is an initiative formed by University of Bath students to address poverty in rural south-western Uganda through the positive power of business. Students will travel to Uganda in summer 2012 to teach business skills and support the set-up of a few businesses based on local expertise. Once the students have left Africa, the Ugandans involved will not only continue to run the enterprises but will pass on their knowledge to others in need.
