The Bath Economics Society (Team BEST) has hosted another successful Industrial Placement Conference; an event that aids placement providers by creating a link between students considering a placement with organisations.
The event was well timed to allow students already in the application process to have a chance to network with company employees, and gain an insight into the organisations they were interested in applying to.
The Society offered further application advice to their members over the two-day event held in 2012, where eight placement providers attended to present their work opportunities.
Companies in attendance included the Bank of England, Goldman Sachs, Nomura International, BlackRock and Lloyds Banking Group.
Overall the event was hugely successful, supporting numerous second year students in gaining a better idea of their personal interests. The event also helped students to consolidate ideas about which companies they should to apply to.
One second year student, Amelia Barnes, commented: “It was a great way to listen to what each company’s placement involved; what they looked for in applicants, and it was a good opportunity to ask questions in person.”
With the success of the event this year, Team BEST hope that more industrial placement conferences will be planned in the near future.
