Zambia IDEALS: Week one student placement diary
Read the latest news from Zambia, the students are two weeks into their six week placement within schools and communities in Zambia.
Week one reports from 3 June – 7 June 2013 and has insights from the whole group. Look out for Josh Skinner (1st Year Sport and Social Sciences) & Kate McGinley (3rd year Sport and Social Sciences) who are representing the University of Bath.
Zambia Ideals LogoTackle Africa were involved in this years’ in country induction’ holding workshops on ‘HIV education through sport’ and will no doubt increase students knowledge when they deliver workshops in the communities.
Since the students’ arrival on Monday (3 June) morning they have spent time learning to adapt to Zambian culture. This has included learning to use the bus systems and how to use local currency etc. The induction process started on the Monday in the SIA office with contributions from both Edusport and SIA. Wednesday (5 June) was the newly added Tackle Africa workshop and Thursday (6 June) was the truck tour of the sites.
