MA overview with text

Welcome to the website for the Department of Education’s MA programmes. We hope very much that our current and prospective students will find the site useful.

The Department runs a wide range of high quality Masters programmes. All the programmes are designed to meet the needs of those who wish to study in education at an advanced level. We have teachers, lecturers, trainers, educational leaders, managers and administrators from all over the world studying on our MA programmes. If you are thinking of studying for a Masters level qualification in education, we hope very much you will decide to study with us.

We offer three main MA programmes:

All programmes comprise taught units and a dissertation and have a total credit value of 90 points. 60 credit points come from the taught units. The other 30 credit points are gained by completing a dissertation. The programmes are flexible and, where available, they can be studied in different ways.

We also offer the faculty-based course Master in Research (MRes) in Education. The MRes programme of study (1 year full time or equivalent part time) provides research training in the lastest methods used by social scientists. It offers high quality study opportunities to potential doctoral students and a stand-alone qualification to train social science researchers.

You can gain the Level 1 and and Level 2 International Baccalaureate® Teacher Awards through the MA in Education programmes.

A dedicated and professional team of academic and administrative staff are on hand to support your study. The programme is continually developing and changing as we seek to improve provision for our students.
