Doctor of Education (Summer School)

Barbara Deveney

I have been teaching in international Primary schools in the Middle East and Southeast Asia for more than 25 years. I graduated from the University of Bath’s MA programme a number of years ago so, when I decided to extend my learning further, Bath was an obvious choice. The modular EdD programme means that I can fit my study and research around my job during the academic year.

The Summer School is great because it takes place during the school holidays and offers me the opportunity to meet and spend time with other teachers from all over the world. The tutorials create an invaluable forum in which to discuss current, and very relevant, issues in International Education. The tutors I have worked with really know what they are talking about and many have worked at the ‘chalk face’ themselves, which gives them real credibility.

Before I signed up for the EdD I researched what other UK universities had to offer - none could match Bath for its specific focus on education in an international context. So far I have found the experience very stimulating and would recommend the EdD programme to any educators or administrators who are looking to extend their knowledge in the area of international education.
