Globalisation, International Education, Policy and Organisation (GIEPO)
Research
The major themes of this group concern the impact of globalisation, international schools, policy and organisation on educational practices.
As part of these overarching themes, members of the group focus on particular areas including:
- the global impact of economic forces on higher education and the labour market
- research into international education, international schools and curricula
- global citizenship education, knowledge and inequality
- childhood, the environment and poverty
- early childhood education and ways of supporting young children as learners
Within these perspectives, organisation and policy in a global and comparative context are studied.
There is also a special interest in schools as organisations including the role of school governance and the psychodynamics of school organisations. This research is undertaken in relation to school effectiveness and organisational change.
