Profile

My research interests focus on the theorisation of contemporary physical culture and the varied articulations related to politics, pedagogy, health, (in)activity and the body.

Through theoretical interdisciplinarity and empirical work my research looks to understand the contested politics of the body (for example gender, class, race, sexuality [dis]ability, age) that are contextually specific. That is I interrogate the ways in which the body becomes representative of wider social struggles and the ways in which we learn continuously and variously about the body and its appropriate management, maintenance and performance.

My research interests and expertise drive my teaching and I am committed to both the academic and public dissemination of my work.
