Profile
I have spent the majority of my 42 years as a science teacher in secondary schools in the South West. My most recent posts were as Head of Science and Head of Post 16 at Cotham Grammar School (Bristol).
I have previously worked as a national trainer for the first National Curriculum, worked with teachers at the Resources for Learning Development Unit (RLDU) in Bristol, and been Chief examiner for Biology A-level.
More recently I have developed and delivered a number of CPD courses for science teachers and technicians, including training in Leadership and practical science.
I have written a number of science teaching books and contributed to the development of 21st Century Science and Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology courses.
I joined staff at the University of Bath in 2003, as Head teacher researcher for the joint Bristol-Bath University Education Professional Learning Communities (EPLC) project.
I am now a part-time teaching fellow, working with the PGCE Secondary Science team in Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset SCITT, and Swindon SCITT. I also teach on the UG, GAU programme.
