For future students
If you are applying for a degree programme at the University of Bath or another university and you need to improve your English language level, we have a number of courses available to help you.
Pre-sessional courses
We deliver three Pre-sessional courses to prepare students for study at university. To choose the right course for you, consider your current English language level and future degree programme.
You should apply for Pre-sessional Preparation (PSP), if:
- your English language level is IELTS 3.5-4.5 (or equivalent)
- you want to study academic English with a focus on writing, reading and language accuracy.
You should apply for Pre-sessional General (PSG), if:
- your English language level is IELTS 5.0 or above (or equivalent)
- you want to improve your academic English and study skills in order to join an undergraduate or postgraduate programme in the future.
You should apply for Pre-sessional Management (PSM), if:
- your English language level is IELTS 5.0 or above (or equivalent)
- you want to improve your academic English and study skills in order to join a degree programme in Business or Management

Combined offers
If you have an offer for a taught postgraduate degree within the University of Bath, and you meet all the conditions of this offer except for the English language requirement, you may be eligible for a combined offer of admission. Please note that you will need to apply to your Graduate School for a combined offer, not to the ELC.
