Live honeybee

This video demonstrates an early movie of the first live bee scanned (Apis mellifera) using synchrotron beamline X-radiation. Gross structures such as brain and hypopharangeal glands are visualised within the head capsule. Future scans will reveal details of separate brain neuropils and will be performed in conjunction with brain function and gene expression experiments to determine relationships between environment and brain function.
