Dr Cathryn Mitchell promoted to Professor
On the 1st of March Dr Cathryn Mitchell become the first female professor within the faculty of Engineering and Design when she was awarded a Personal Chair.
Cathryn was appointed as a lecturer at University of Bath in 1999, where she has set up a research group that uses GPS satellites to image the troposphere, ionosphere and plasmasphere. In 2004 she was awarded an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship in ‘Effects of the ionized atmosphere on GNSS’ and was promoted to Reader. Cathryn was one of only six successful applicants in the EPSRC Challenging Engineering Awards scheme in 2006. This established a new research centre in imaging science at the University of Bath called Invert.
