New lecturer, Pedro Estrela, appointed to the Department (17/11/08)
The Department is pleased to welcome Pedro Estrela as a new member of the academic staff. Dr Estrela, whose research lies in Biosensors, joins our Centre for Advanced Sensor Technology from the University of Cambridge.
Pedro, originally from Portugal, obtained his Mestrado in Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science from the Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal in 1995. In 2000 he gained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam in experimental Solid State Physics. From 2000 to 2008 he was a Research Associate and then Senior Research Associate at the University of Cambridge conducting research in to the development of sensors based on thin film transistors for biotechnology applications.
