Dr Furong Li wins 2009 Rushlight Award

Dr Furong Li, Reader in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering, is the proud winner of a 2009 Rushlight Award.

The Rushlight Awards 2009 promote and celebrate the leading energy, resource and environmental technologies and innovations by organizations throughout UK and Ireland.  The awards highlight the technologies and innovations that are shaping the energy, transport, environment and industry sectors of the future.

Furong is the winner of the Rushlight Power Generation and Transmission Award. This category celebrates the most significant engineering development within the electricity sector that has improved the efficiency of energy conversion and/or transmission from fuel source to consumer.

In assessing its contributions, the judges recognised that the University of Bath made significance achievements in fundamental research in network infrastructure pricing. The work assisted the industry regulator Ofgem to reform its distribution pricing structure, formed the principle of a common charging methodology for the distribution industry and significantly reduces calculation times on the use of the power distribution network.

All category winners will automatically be nominated for the UK entries for the European Business Awards for the Environment.
