Bath Robotic Challenge travels to Singapore
A team led by
Dr Pejman Iravani
and
Dr Manuchehr
Soleimani from our
Robotics
and Autonomous Systems research group recently took their
Robotic Challenge to A level students in Singapore.
The team visited three schools in Singapore City while representing both departments of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Design.
The challenge
Dr Soleimani said: “The Robotic Challenge is an outreach activity promoting our University as a whole and the Faculty of Engineering and Design in particular.
More than 100 students and teachers attended the Challenge. We were very impressed by the quality of the students in these schools.”
The Bath Robotic Challenge involved student teams working to design and programme a racing robot culminating in either a team robot race or robot sumo challenge.
Following
the robot races, the Bath team decided on the best-performing robot and awarded prizes to the
challenge winners.
Inspiring future engineers
The Bath Robotic Challenge uses robotics to demonstrate to schoolchildren how exciting engineering can be.
By fostering enthusiasm for engineering, we aim to inspire high achieving students around the world to study our engineering programmes.
