New project lab open

Project lab at the Department of Electronic and Electrical EngineeringThe Department’s all new project lab has been completed and is now open for student project work.

A substantial investment has led to the setting up of this facility, which is designed as a project/workshop area for group and individual undergraduate projects.

The lab incorporates a technical support area, as well as a PCB prototype fabrication machine and SMD soldering facilities.

Professor Nicholas Mitchell, Head of Department, said: ‘This new lab is a tremendous addition to our Department and will let us run in-depth hardware focused projects in an ideal environment.”

The new lab is part of a University three-year campus improvement project to provide new teaching space, student accommodation and a new Centre for the Arts.

The programme will further enhance our ability to deliver an outstanding student experience, world-class research facilities, an inspiring working environment and cultural benefits for the wider community.
