Profile

Dr Philip Shields has MPhys and DPhil degrees in Physics from the University of Oxford, UK.

In 2004 he joined the wide band-gap semiconductor group at the University of Bath, becoming a Research Fellow in 2008. In 2012 he was appointed lecturer in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

Research

Dr Shields is involved in the growth and fabrication of III-nitride devices mainly for optoelectronic applications, with a particular focus on the use of nanostructures to improve device performance.
