Professor Manuchehr Soleimani

BSc, MSc, PhD

Professor Soleimani has a BSc in Electrical Engineering and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering. He obtained a PhD from the University of Manchester in 2005.

Professor Soleimani worked at the University of Manchester School of Materials as a postdoctoral research associate, before joining the University of Bath in 2007 as a postdoctoral research associate. He became a lecturer in 2008, Senior Lecturer in 2013, Reader 2015 and was promoted to Personal Chair in 2016. Professor Soleimani established, and also leads, the Engineering Tomography Laboratory (ETL).

Professor Soleimani works in tomographic imaging. The work involves the hardware, software and sensor development of new and emerging tomographic imaging techniques and the image analysis of conventional imaging techniques such as X-Ray CT.

Particular interests are in electrical and electromagnetic imaging, nonlinear inverse problems, volumetric image reconstruction in X-ray CT, and multi-modality imaging. Professor Soleimani serves as an editor board member for five international journals and collaborates with the top international groups and several industrial partners in the field of tomography.
