# Dr Weijia Yuan

## BSc, PhD

## Profile

Dr Yuan received his Bachelor degree from Tsinghua University and his PhD from the University of Cambridge. He then became both a research associate in the Engineering Department and a junior research fellow at Wolfson College, both at the University of Cambridge.

Dr Yuan joined the University of Bath as a lecturer (US equivalent: Assistant Professor) in 2011. He is currently a Reader (Associate Professor) and also holds a research fellowship awarded by the Royal Academy of Engineering (2013-18).

## Research

Dr Yuan’s research interests focus on electrical power applications of superconductivity including fault current limiters, machines and power transmission lines. He has extensive research experience in modelling of superconducting devices and building superconducting magnets.

His work also involves renewable energy integration and power system stability using energy storage systems. He is also working on power system protection using emerging devices. Further details can be found on Dr Yuan's group website.
