Emily 2004 SE Release 2 is now available. It has been upgraded to allow YUV 4:2:2 files that are interleaved in the UYVY format to be read.

10th June 2004

Emily 2003 SE has now been updated to Emily 2004 SE. This release includes some minor bug fixes, in addition some users had found that some RAW YUV 4:2:2 files were not playing, which has now been resolved.

Introduction

The Emily software has been the main engine of the source code used and written by Nick Young, one of our PhD students (1999 - 2003). In 2002 the University ran its first seminar on video processing which has now been integrated into several of the courses offered by the department. As part of the courses, pratical hands on experience is required which has led to the Emily engine being extended for a more generalised use. You can download the complete Emily distribution (The viewer, Matlab and C++ code) by clicking here. Emily was initially designed to allow viewing of the Bath YUV and RVS files but now allows viewing of a much wider range of formats including RGB, Raw YUV, etc. New options also include an AVI output, integrated video CODEC's (MJPEG, MPEG 1/2 and H264). Files can also be played back sycnhronously to allow comparisons to be made.

Note 1: that Emily has been designed to run only on Windows 2000 and XP machines. Emily has been tested on Windows ME and appears to run fine, but remember no support will be given for systems other than Windows 2000/XP.

Note 2: If you come accross a format that you would like me to include, or any other problems, please email me at nick_young@talk21.com. You need to include the file format (the name at least, if not a full description), a link to a sample file and your details. Or for any problems that may arise, send me details of your OS, machine details, what you were doing to cause the problem, and any files (video) that you were using. You MUST tell me why you want this. For example is it part of Dr A.Evans or Prof. D.Monros coursework or for other use?
