We regularly release details of funded PhD opportunities available with the Faculty. There are also a number of scholarships and studentships which you may be eligible to apply for.

The successful candidate will be part of the newly awarded project with Wessex Water on 'Holistic Approaches to Sustainable Water Supply'. They will contribute to research knowledge and help solve real issues for Wessex Water using an integrated life cycle improvement approach, which will be developed by the candidate.

Start date: Ideally October 2013, but there is flexibility
The 3.5 year PhD research project will take place in the Microwave Systems & Propagation Group of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Bath where the PhD students will have opportunity to learn from and work with internationally recognized experts in microwave and antenna engineering. The programme of research will involve collaboration with Engineers at Selex Ltd, and should include up to three months of work at Selex Ltd. Candidates are expected to travel within the UK for meetings and internationally to attend conferences and present their work. Requirements:

A studentship for PhD study in either Mechanical Engineering or Electronic and Electrical Engineering is now available. Applicants must be graduates from the Harbin Institute of Technology. Funding is for full-time study only, beginning October 2013, with each year providing:

DTA Studentships Full time Home/EU students only See EPSRC website for eligibility. |
Applications from any field of research are eligible. Funding is for full-time study only, beginning October 2013, January 2014 or April 2014. Funding lasts for three or three and a half years. For Home students each year provides:
For EU students only the tuition fee is provided. There is no stipend or Training Support Grant available. Studentships may be converted to CASE PhD studentships if a suitable company can be found to act as sponsor. A CASE PhD student is expected to spend up to 6 weeks per year working at the sponsoring company’s site and their project will be in an area of interest to the company. In some cases the CASE student’s stipend can be increased compared to the normal award. For more information, please check the EPSRC website. |

How to apply for postgraduate research funding
Follow these steps:
- Find an academic who specialises in your proposed research area and contact them directly.
- If they are willing to support you in your studies, you must apply online.
- When you apply, you must:
- Clearly state your proposed supervisor
- Clearly state the proposed title/subject of your research and your research background
- Say which scholarship or studentship you are applying for, if applicable
- If you are applying for funding, ensure you apply before the relevant deadline.
