Protected groups

There are nine protected characteristics identified in the Equality Act 2010, which are covered in our Statement of Equality Objectives PDF:

The purpose of this Statement is to ensure that students, staff and visitors regardless of gender, trans status, race or disability are treated with equity.

We will maintain structures to provide a workplace /place of study that is free from harassment and discrimination. The Students' Union offer help and advice on what you can do in case you experience this type of behaviour

We will also plan the actions needed to support women and men to achieve their full potential at work or study. We work to attract, recruit and retain the most talented staff and students. This assists us to remain a competitive and successful University.
