MA in Interpreting and Translating

Japanese Stream

The Japanese Stream of the MA in Interpreting and Translating was established in 1996. Since then we have turned people from various backgrounds into skilled interpreters and translators who work in a variety of industries around the world.

We provide a comprehensive programme of study encompassing translation in a variety of fields, interpreting in all of the standards modes such as consecutive, simultaneous, liaison and public service interpreting.

We also have an elective programme where students can attend lectures in a variety of specialist programmes such as the Institutions of the EU, Economics and Globalisation etc.

We welcome applicants who simply have an interest in pursuing a career in translation or interpreting or who have some prior experience in translation or interpreting. Japanese applicants will need a good level of English (about IELTS 6.5) and non-Japanese applicants will need a Japanese level close to Level one of the Japanese Proficiency Test.

Our website contains plenty of film clips and photos to show you what life is like at Bath.

We have a long-established and active alumni network through which you can exchange information and develop innovations.

We hope you will enjoy our website !
