What is it? A pioneering local project to save energy A Treasury part-funded project with the aim of saving at least 10% of our energy usage in the next 3 years See www.bigenergychallenge.org for more details How will it do this?
What has happened so far?
Why do this? To reduce our carbon footprint, our environmental impact, and our energy bills. "As a leading institution with an international reputation for teaching and research in the environmental and energy fields, we have to ensure we also seek to practice what we teach. We as Universities should be exemplars of best environmental practice and take our responsibilities to reduce our contribution to climate change seriously. I think that this project, with the support of the staff and students, gives us a real chance to make a difference" Prof. Jane Millar , Pro Vice Chancellor (Strategic Developments) Want to know what you can do now? Go to www.bigenergychallenge.org and do the training presentation (logon code is 3n3rgy ) Have a look at our 'What Can I Do?' energy webpage within Estates for some other ideas Talk to/support your local Green Champion – see link for details
