Notice of minor works on campus

 

  • Middlewalk Road Closure

Due to the need to undertake essential maintenance works the Middlewalk Road (situated between Esther Parkin and Marlborough Court ) will be temporarily closed from 0700hrs until 1800hrs on Wednesday 24 July 2014.

In order to minimise disruption to Campus users a temporary diversion route will be established and automated traffic lights will facilitate the flow of traffic until the works are completed.

  • Soil Pipework Maintenance in Wessex House

UPDATE- Work commenced on Saturday 22 July 2013 and went as planned on the soil pipework on Level 3 of Wessex House. The second phase of works will be carried out this weekend 27 & 28 July 2013. The scaffolding will remain in place for the duration of works.

Estates will be carrying out essential soil pipework maintenance on Level 3 of Wessex House in the lobby ceiling void space outside of the Council Chamber from Saturday 20 July 2013.

Tower scaffolding will be erected from the ground floor up through the centre of the stairwell. This will not impede on the staircase or directly affect access/egress of personnel.

  • Electrical Testing

In response to legal requirements, the University will commence the periodic electrical inspection and testing of the integrity of the electrical installation of the following buildings:

1 East, 2 South, 3 South, 5 South, 7 West, 8 West, Central Stores and Landscape Section

 This testing means power will be turned off for short periods as the engineers test each circuit. The engineers will be in full consultation with the building users and technical staff making sure they only isolate power when everyone is in agreement and that there are no unexpected power outages.  

Work will commence on Monday 12 August 2013 and the testing will be carried out in the order of the buildings as above.  Confirmed dates will be given at a later date.

  • 3 East - concrete repairs

The Department of Estates will be undertaking repair works to the external elements of the 3 East building as of Monday 15 July 2013 with a view to the works being completed by/on Friday 2 August 2013.

We will be using access equipment as and when required but normal access and egress to to the building should not be compromised.

  • Closure of section of north access road

The section of the north access road that runs from Founder's Hall to the Estates Office will close from Monday 20 August 2012 through to completion of the GTA building in September 2013. A one way system will operate during this period. (Please see map). The Estates car park has also closed.

  • 1 West - Phase 1 Refurbishment

From Monday 28 May 2012 for the foreseeable future of the project, access from the Parade between 1 West and the Library will be closed and the path to the east of 1 West North will be closed during the refurbishment. Please see plan for further detail regarding these restrictions.

  • Health and Safety Advice

All staff and campus users are reminded that barriers placed around construction, refurbishment and building alteration work sites are there for your safety. You categorically may not pass round or move any such barrier, however temporary, and whether or not work appears to be taking place at any time.
