Notice of minor works on campus

  • No power to 1 South and 2 South

To enable essential maintenance work to be carried out on a transformer, the electrical supply to 'K' substation will be disconnected on Sunday 19 May 2013 between the hours of 07.00am (07:00hrs) to 5.00pm (17:00hrs).

This will result in NO power at all during this period, therefore you should ensure that all electrical equipment is either switched off or disconnected from the mains. The doors to fridges/freezers should remain closed as much as possible.

The buildings that will be affected:

1 South and 2 South, levels 1 and 2

Please make sure staff and all general building users are informed.

We appreciate that this work may cause difficulties but it is essential to prevent problems with serious power failures in the future.

  • Norwood House north lift

The northern lift in Norwood House is currently out of order. Repairs are ongoing and it is hoped that the fault will be fixed today, or tomorrow at the latest.

  • Closure of boundary footpath south of campus

From the 22 April 2013, the boundary footpath south of the campus (see map) will be closed to users for three weeks to allow for resurfacing.

The Department of Estates have obtained a sealed order from B&NES prohibiting use along it's length for the duration of the works (see attached).

  • East Car Park loss of car parking spaces

From the 17 April 2013, 34 car parking spaces in the East Car Park will be out of use for at least three weeks while Laing O,Rourke install a new soak away, for the existing Soulsbury Court and the new R6 residence.

The attached drawing shows the route for coaches during these works.

  • Closure of section of north access road

The section of the north access road that runs from Founder's Hall to the Estates Office will close from Monday 20 August 2012 through to completion of the GTA building in September 2013. A one way system will operate during this period. (Please see map). The Estates car park has also closed.

  • 1 West - Phase 1 Refurbishment

From Monday 28 May 2012 for the foreseeable future of the project, access from the Parade between 1 West and the Library will be closed and the path to the east of 1 West North will be closed during the refurbishment. Please see plan for further detail regarding these restrictions.

  • Health and Safety Advice

All staff and campus users are reminded that barriers placed around construction, refurbishment and building alteration work sites are there for your safety. You categorically may not pass round or move any such barrier, however temporary, and whether or not work appears to be taking place at any time.
