Building maintenance

The Building Maintenance section is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all University buildings, including all academic and residential properties. This includes:

  • Builder’s Work
  • Joinery
  • Paint Work and Decorations
  • Floor Finishes
  • Roof Work
  • Roads and Paths
  • External Drainage
  • Windows
  • Doors
  • Locks
  • Signage

By the use of in-house trades staff and contractors the section aims to maintain and improve the fabric of all University properties.

This service also covers planned and long term maintenance and departmental funded work from surveys, drawings, specification through planning applications to final completion. All work is carried out in accordance with the most recent health and safety legislation, and Building Regulations.

In addition, the Building Maintenance section is responsible for the upkeep of the Asbestos Management Plan and Asbestos Database Register. Any queries with regards to asbestos related issues should be firstly directed to the head of the Building Maintenance section.
