Projects & Construction

The Department of Estates has responsibility for the delivery of all new building and major refurbishment projects on campus. The team provides a full service from initial briefing and concept design through to planning and building regulation applications, tendering of construction works and supervision of projects through their construction phase.

The small internal team is supported by a Framework of external consultants.

Projects are normally instigated by the Vice-Chancellor's office or the University's Executive Committee. However, the Capital Procurement Team is happy to provide early advice on potential projects as needed.

Please see the link on the left hand side of this page to see how to request major project works in your department.

Campus Investments

Over the next three years the University of Bath is investing in major improvements to provide new teaching space, new student accommodation, a new Centre for the Arts as well as refurbish and expand existing teaching facilities. For more details on these projects please follow this link.

Programme of Works 2013

There is a programme of works scheduled to take place over the coming months. This is available to view in the following formats:

Microsoft Project 2010 (mmp) - or - Adobe (pdf)

Also available is a list of current events on campus, updated on a regular basis. Follow this link for the Events List.

These documents will be updated on a regular basis as and when information is received.

We also have a campus plan illustrating construction works to 2015 and their respective site compounds.

  • Health and Safety Advice

All staff and campus users are reminded that barriers placed around construction, refurbishment and building alteration work sites are there for your safety. You categorically may not pass round or move any such barrier, however temporary, and whether or not work appears to be taking place at any time.

Please communicate this message to all visitors and students for whom you have any responsibility.

Should you have any queries please contact the Department of Estates via email.

Halving construction waste to landfill

The University has recently made a commitment to 'halving the amount of construction, demolition and excavation waste going to landfill by 2012'.

Please see our signed commitment here.
