The University of Bath's celebratory summer degree congregations will take place on Wednesday 4 July and Thursday 5 July in the Tennis Hall on the Claverton Down campus.

GraduandsOver 1,500 students will graduate during the six congregations, with honorary degrees awarded to David Beeton CBE, Sir CK Chow, Sir Christopher Evans OBE, Dame Rosalyn Higgins QC, Sir Ian McKellen CBE and Professor David VandeLinde.

Honorary Graduands

David Beeton CBE
Chief Executive of Historic Royal Palaces 1989-1999. Secretary of the National Trust 1985-1989. Chief Executive of Bath City Council 1973-1985 (during which time Bath became the first UK World Heritage City). Resident in Bath.

Sir CK Chow
Chief Executive GKN plc since 1997 (substantial shareholder in Westland Helicopters). Role model for students of Asian origin: born in Hong Kong, educated in America, and operating as a successful businessman in the UK context.

Sir Christopher Evans OBE
Entrepreneur specialising in the field of Biotechnology. Founder and Chairman, Merlin Ventures Limited. First Chairman of the Board of Vectura, the joint venture 'spin-out' which incorporates the former Centre for Drug Formulation Studies.

Dame Rosalyn Higgins QC
First woman to be elected as a Judge of the International Court of Justice. Former Professor of International Law at the London School of Economics. Member of the UN Committee on Human Rights.

Sir Ian McKellen CBE
Distinguished actor. Founder member of the gay and lesbian rights organisation Stonewall.

Prof David VandeLinde
Current Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath.

Parking Information

For the duration of the Ceremonies, car parks A and E will be closed to staff and reserved for vehicles belonging to the graduands, guests of graduands and VIP guests. Convocation Avenue will also be closed and enforced by barriers and the presence of Security Officers. For the duration of road closures, Badgerline buses will operate from the park and ride bus stop in E car park.

Disabled parking
The Security Office will be making arrangements for any disabled graduands or the disabled guests of graduands to park as close as possible to the Tennis Hall.

Any student wishing to take advantage of this facility should please e-mail Adrian Hicks, Head of Security - a.j.hicks@bath.ac.uk - with the relevant vehicle registration number, the time and which Degree Ceremony they are attending. If, on the day the graduand or guest goes to car park "E" and produces an orange or blue disabled drivers badge to the Security Officer on duty there, they will be allocated a reserved space as near to the Tennis Hall as possible.
