Marriage, Divorce and Body Mass Index: What's Economics got to do with it?
Part of the Minerva Series of lectures
What does economics have to say about everyday experiences, such as marriage, divorce and BMI? As it turns out – a lot. This lecture will explore competing social science theories linking marriage and BMI: marriage market, marriage selection, marriage protection and social obligation and how these offer conflicting predictions. Joanna will talk about results of her recent study, which clear up much of the confusion, and why you should be worried when your spouse starts losing weight.
