Staff on grade 6 and above
If you are grade 6 or above you are eligible to join the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS)
Unless you elect not to join prior to commencing your employment you will automatically begin contributing to the scheme.
USS scheme sections
From 1st October 2011 new members of USS joined the Career Revalued Benefits Section of USS.
Existing members will continue to be in the Final Salary Section of the scheme provided they have continuous service.
USS will confirm which section of the scheme you are a member of when they issue you with your membership certificate; a guide to the scheme will also be provided at that time.
If you are an active member of USS transferring from another university, it is important you inform us to ensure your continuous service details are processed correctly.
Ensure that Human Resources are kept informed of your current home address, when you leave our employment, USS will need to write to you with details of your pension service record.
