Sponsored students
Sponsored postgraduate students:(dept. contact – Jane
Morris)
- Students who are sponsored must either provide evidence of their
sponsorship arrangements at registration or send them to the student
finance
office prior to their registration. The student finance office requires that
we receive an original letter which will be kept in the student’s
file, however, we can return a copy to the student should they
request it.
- Evidence of their sponsorship arrangements must take
the form of an official letter from the sponsoring body and
must include the level and
duration of the support. The exceptions to this are students who are funded
by
University or department studentships.
Sponsored undergraduate students: (dept.
contact –Marianna Lane)
- Students who are sponsored must provide evidence of their
sponsorship arrangements at registration or send them to the student
finance office
prior to their registration. Evidence of sponsorship must take the
form of an official letter from the sponsoring body and must include
the level
and duration of the support.
SLC funded undergraduate students: (dept.
contact – Marianna Lane)
- The student finance office receives notification of the level of
funding provided by the SLC via an electronic process direct from the
SLC.
- The above process also notifies the office of any changes in the
assessment of a particular student.
- Students will also receive a paper
copy of their assessment and this maybe useful, particularly at a
registration, should we not yet
have received the electronic notification (paper copies of the SLC assessment
notification can be brought to registration sessions or sent
directly to the student finance office).
- From 2006/7 all new and continuing Home and EU Undergraduates (except
continuing SAAS funded students) have the option to defer the payment
of their tuition fees, by taking out a tuition fee loan from the SLC.
The student Finance Office should receive notification of the loan
information via the same process as above.

- The research accountant and her assistants, within the section,
will be informed of those students who are in receipt of a University
or
Departmental
studentship via the Graduate Schools.
- An AGRESSO code will be set up and an invoice
raised in SAM (student accounting module of SAMIS) for each student
in receipt of a studentship.
- The tuition fees will be charged via an
internal recharge process .
- Internal tuition fee recharges are done in
bulk during January and then once a month to clear any still outstanding
(dept contact Wendy Bullock).

Other Departmental funded students: (dept.
contact U/G - Marianna Lane, P/G – Gina Page)
- Departments who wish to offer tuition fee support towards a particular
student (other than the above) must inform the Student Finance Office
of
this in writing – either
by letter or email.
- The department must include a departmental AGRESSO
code and the amount of funding that they wish to offer.
- An invoice
will be raised and an internal recharge process will be done to clear
the invoice and charge the activity/account unit.
