Policies and procedures

Policies and procedures govern and regulate the way the University conducts all aspects of its business.

The University's Ordinances define and direct the overall governance and management of the University within the general framework of the Charter and Statutes. Standing Orders of Council, Senate and Boards of Studies.

The University Regulations regulate the academic work of the University, the education and discipline of its students, and such other matters as lie within the functions of Senate, including admission and assessment.

Separate University Rules apply to University accommodation and to the conduct of examinations.

The University's Quality Assurance Code of Practice describes the internal processes and procedures for assuring the quality and standard of its academic provision. It is published by the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Office.

Other areas of University operations are regulated by policies and procedures put in place at departmental or inter-departmental level. These include, for example, recruitment and employment policies published by the Department of Human Resources and equality and diversity policies published by the Office of the University Secretary.

The quickest way to access a particular policy is via the A-Z index or via the search facility on the University's home page
