Staff Attendance at Summer Graduation Ceremonies

Summer Graduation Ceremonies 2013
Summer Graduation Ceremonies will be held on Tuesday 2, Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 July in Bath Abbey.

Academic and research staff
All academic and research staff are invited to process in the academic procession from the Guildhall to the Abbey.  If you wish to process, complete and return the procession form (Word document) by Wednesday 12 June to Gail Gillespie in the Events and Ceremonies Office.

Hire of robes
Staff processing at graduation ceremonies must wear academic robes and hats.  If you plan to process at a ceremony and do not have your own robes, the Events and Ceremonies Office will hire gowns and hats on your behalf.  Your gown and hat requirements must be included in your procession form.  The robe hire company will not guarantee matching academic dress for overseas degrees but will provide an alternative.  If we receive your procession form after Wednesday 12 June we will not be able to order you a gown and hat and you will be unable to attend the academic procession.
When wearing academic dress, men should wear a lounge suit, dark socks, dark shoes, shirt and tie.  Women should wear a dress, suit, trousers or skirt with a long sleeved blouse/top and dark shoes.

Ceremonies start at 10 am, 12.30 pm, 3 pm and 5.30 pm (procession tickets will be sent out in the middle of June).  Academic staff should arrive at the Guildhall for gowning 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony, to collect their gown and hat, or with their own gown and hat.  Ceremonies last approximately one hour. Please note that if you are graduating in a ceremony you cannot process as a member of staff.
Transport to the Ceremonies
Transport to the Ceremonies is provided for staff by coach leaving the West Car Park on campus approximately 45 minutes before the start of each ceremony and returning 10 minutes after the end of each ceremony.  The coach will be parked by Orange Grove near the Guildhall for the return journey to campus.
