About this accommodation

Carpenter House is a self-catered accommodation complex in the city for 133 undergraduates, with shared flats for seven to ten students.

It is in the city centre, just a five-minute walk from the railway station and the Roman Baths.

Carpenter House has:


The bedrooms in Carpenter House give you personal space to work and relax.

Each room has:

  • single bed
  • sink
  • desk, chair and drawers
  • high-speed Wi-Fi and ethernet
  • wardrobe
  • bookshelves

Kitchens and dining

Each flat has a communal kitchen with:

  • electric hob
  • oven
  • grill
  • fridge-freezer
  • microwave
  • plenty of cupboard storage space
  • dining table and chairs
  • recycling facilities

Social spaces

There is a communal lounge on the ground floor with:

  • TV with Freeview
  • sofas
  • small dining tables and chairs
  • coffee tables

Accommodation for students with disabilities

There is no accessible accommodation for students with disabilities in Carpenter House.

If you have a disability or additional needs, you can choose to live in one of the specially adapted bedrooms in our on-campus accommodation.

Included in the accommodation package

There are some items and services that come as part of the price of your accommodation.


As part of your accommodation agreement we clean:

  • communal areas such as kitchens and social spaces weekly
  • en-suite bathrooms every six weeks

You are responsible for keeping your rooms clean and tidy.

Extra cleaning services

You can buy extra cleaning services for your bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.


The University postal service delivers your post to shared, passcode-protected mailboxes. These are allocated by kitchen group and you get your mailbox passcode when you move in.

Mail that requires your signature will be held at the City Accommodation Centre in John Wood Complex.


The City Accommodation Centre will only accept parcels until Sunday 4 December 2016. After that date you must use other methods to receive your parcels.

Any parcels sent to City Accommodation Centre after 4 December 2016 will be returned to the sender.


You get insurance cover for your belongings as part of your accommodation package.
