About Esther Parkin Residence

Esther Parkin Residence offers visiting academics and their families convenient short-term housing. It consists of four self-contained residences, close to the centre of campus.

Esther Parkin Residence has:

  • secure key access to the building
  • secure bike storage

Other families are likely to be staying in Esther Parkin Residence. There is an open area for children to play; children must be supervised.


There are three types of accommodation in Esther Parkin Residence:

  • two cottages
  • two flats
  • one studio flat


There are two cottages, one at each end of the building.

Each cottage costs £315 per week and has:

  • three bedrooms
  • study/extra bedroom
  • large kitchen with washing machine
  • large lounge/dining room
  • upstairs bathroom with shower over the bath
  • downstairs toilet with sink


Each flat costs £255 per week and has:

  • one double bedroom
  • one single bedroom
  • lounge/dining room
  • small kitchen
  • bathroom with shower over bath


The studio would suit one person for a short visit.

It costs £190 per week and has:

  • study/bedroom
  • en-suite shower room
  • kitchenette

Accommodation for academics or family members with disabilities

There is no accessible accommodation in Esther Parkin Residence.

If you have a disability or additional needs, you can choose to live in one of the specially adapted bedrooms in our on-campus accommodation.

Included in the accommodation package

There are some items and services that come as part of the price of your accommodation.

The price includes:

  • bed linen
  • council tax
  • TV licence
  • high speed Wi-Fi and ethernet
  • utility bills (except telephone calls)


You are responsible for keeping your accommodation clean and tidy.


The University postal service delivers small postal items to the Residence. Collect parcels from the Parcel Room.


You must arrange your own contents insurance cover.


There is no smoking in any of our University accommodation.
