Internal International Funding
University of Bath International Schemes
Bath International Research Funding Schemes support researcher mobility and network development. This is in line with the University’s strategic goals. The Schemes are currently being reviewed. For further information contact email@example.com.
David Parkin Visiting Professorship
The David Parkin Visiting Professorship supports outstanding academics with a permanent position at a non-UK university. They can spend up to 12 months as a Visiting Professor at the University of Bath. There is one call per academic year with the deadline in February. This is in line with procedures for appointing visiting professorial staff.
FAPESP - University of Bath Funding
The University of Bath and the São Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP) offer joint funding to support projects involving the exchange of researchers. There are two calls per academic year with deadlines in January and July. Further information.
This scheme is open to nominees who have an outstanding international research profile in any discipline area that fits in with or compliments the University’s research strengths and focus. A Global Chair is normally awarded to an outstanding Professor with a permanent position at a non-UK university, to spend a fixed period of time as a Visiting Professor at the University of Bath. The call for the 2018/19 academic year will be announced early 2018. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sabbatical Leave Scheme
Sabbatical leave is a continuous period of release from normal academic duties. This is for the pursuit of scholarship and research or teaching in the University; leading to the development of staff and the production of outputs significantly benefiting the University.
Schinazi International Exchange Programme
The Schinazi International Exchange Programme (SIEP) supports a staff and postdoctoral exchange programme between Emory University and the University of Bath, furthering research and education in key areas of scientific excellence. External International Funding
Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF)
The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) is a £1.5 billion fund allocated to Research Councils from 2016-2021. The fund aims to ensure that UK research takes a leading role in addressing the problems faced by developing countries. See GCRF open calls.
The Newton Fund aims to develop science and innovation partnerships that promote the economic development and welfare of its 18 collaborating countries.
SPHEIR (Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education Innovation and Reform) is a Department for Internaitonal Development (DFID) fund. This is for innovative partnerships transforming the quality, relevance, scale and affordability of higher education in low-income countries.
STFC: 21st Century Challenge Enabling Fund
This Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) Fund ensures that innovative science, technology, applications and expertise are providing solutions to 21st Century Challenges. Areas include energy, environment, healthcare, security, food security, agritech, resilience and urbanisation. Further information.

The Leverhulme Trust
The Leverhulme Trust makes awards for the support of research and education, encompassing all subject areas. They offer fellowships for researchers at every stage of their career, and grants for international collaboration and travel.
The Wellcome Trust provides more than £700 million a year to support bright minds in science, the humanities and the social sciences, as well as education, public engagement and the application of research to medicine.
