John Wood Building is self-catered accommodation offering 81 bedrooms for first-year undergraduates.

It is close to the city centre, just a short walk to Green Park and Sainsbury's.

John Wood Building has:

  • 15 standard rooms

  • bookshelves

En-suite rooms also have an en-suite shower and an armchair.

Kitchens and dining

Each flat has a large bright communal kitchen, shared by seven to ten people.

Accommodation for students with disabilities

There is no accessible accommodation for students with disabilities in John Wood Building.

If you have a disability or additional needs, you can choose to live in one of the specially adapted bedrooms in our on-campus accommodation.

Included in the accommodation package

There are some items and services that come as part of the price of your accommodation.


As part of your accommodation agreement we clean:

  • communal areas such as kitchens and social spaces weekly
  • en-suite bathrooms every six weeks

You are responsible for keeping your rooms clean and tidy.

Extra cleaning services

You can buy extra cleaning services for your bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.


The University postal service delivers your post to shared, passcode-protected mailboxes located at the bottom of the main stairs. These are allocated by kitchen group and you get your mailbox passcode when you move in.

Mail that requires your signature will be held at the City Accommodation Centre in John Wood Complex.


The City Accommodation Centre will only accept parcels until 16 June 2017. After that date you must use other methods to receive your parcels.
