Doctoral Welcome Team
Your Doctoral Welcome Team, made up of current students, is here to make sure you feel welcome and supported in the first few months of your doctoral studies. Look out for them on campus in their red hoodies -they're here to help create a positive doctoral community experience from the outset. As well as organising welcome events, they can also help you find relevant facilities, support services and anything else you might need.
Take a look at their blog to meet the team and for hints and tips on settling in to doctoral life.
Two Tunnels Walk, Saturday 11 November 2017
We're back with another one of Bath's most famous walks! Join us as we explore the Two Tunnels route, which runs through Linear Park to the disused Devonshire tunnel (at Bloomfield), onto Combe Down tunnel, and then over the renovated Tucking Mill viaduct. The path connects Bath to the Midford Valley, following the track-bed of the former Somerset and Dorset Railway. Both tunnels are lit between 5:00am and 11:00pm every day, and you might even hear some soothing music in the Combe Down tunnel!
Christmas Markets Walk, Wednesday 22 November 2017
Christmas in Bath is one of the most special times of year, with the award-winning Christmas Markets being a highlight of the festive season. It is often an incredibly busy experience, but this year Bath residents have been invited to an exclusive preview evening on Wednesday 22 November from 5-7pm. The market doesn't open to the public until the next day so it's a fantastic chance to get presents and enjoy the festivities in relative peace. The Doctoral Welcome Team will be leading a tour of doctoral students from outside the Library into town from 4:30pm to introduce you all to the magical experience that is the market!
For those of you who just want to wander around and soak it up, we'll leave you to the centre to get started. For those who want some help figuring out the best stalls, we're on hand to help. You'd be mad to leave without a visit to the Pudding Wagon, home of the best brownies going!
If you missed this walk on the Welcome Programme, it's something still well worth doing. A beautiful walking trail with magnificent views of the city and the landscape beyond. Read more information and get the trail map.
