Dr James Bilzon appointed as Honorary Civilian Consultant Advisor
3 April 2012
Dr James Bilzon was
recently appointed as Honorary Civilian Consultant Advisor (HCCA) in Sport & Exercise Science
to the British Army. A letter sent on behalf of the Chief of the General Staff and the Army Board
confirmed the five year appointment, which was effective from 5 January 2012.
The appointment will further enhance the close working relationship between the University's Department for Health and the British Army, providing a formal vehicle for the Army to engage Dr Bilzon in providing advice and guidance, particularly to the Director General Army Medical Services and Director of Defence Rehabilitation.
HCCA posts are typically only offered to those working in specific recognised medical specialties. This appointment is an excellent indicator of the perceived strength of the University's contribution to key themes within the Sport & Exercise Science and Sport & Exercise Medicine disciplines.
