Alumni careers seminar a success

Thu Mar 13 11:45:00 GMT 2014

On Friday 28th February, students from our sport and exercise degrees attended a seminar hosted by the department focussing on career development following graduation.

Several Sport and Exercise Science alumni gave interactive presentations offering our students an insight into their current occupations and roles and how these career journeys have developed since completing their studies at the University. Among the alumni were:

  • Chloe Shattock (Nike UK and Ireland Running Brand Director)
  • Dani Wallwork (Senior Project Manager at Covance, Inc)
  • Ed Gannon (Senior Strength& Conditioning Coach, Leicester Tigers Rugby Club)
  • Hannah Littlecott (DECIPHer UKCRC Public Health Research Centre of Excellence)

Also at the event was Kate Mills (British Association of Sport and Exercise Science Education Officer) who spoke to students about the Association, acreditation routes and potential sport and exercise related careers.

Dr Rachel Arnold, who organised the event, said: "It was great to see many of the students interacting with the speakers and hearing about potential careers following graduation. Many valuable tips and pieces of advice were also provided to the students about the skills and experience they should be developing to give their CVs a distinctive edge in the competitive job market. We are very grateful to the Faculty Teaching Development Fund for supporting this event".
