Student shortlisted for National Student Volunteer of the Year Award 2014

Jordan Kenny (Student Volunteer award)Jordan Kenny, a final year Sport and Social Science student, has been shortlisted (alongside 4 other students from across the UK) for the National Student Volunteer of the Year Award. The event will be held in the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday 26 February, and will be hosted by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson.

The Awards are presented by NUS, Barclays and 'Student Hubs' as part of National Student Volunteer Week to celebrate the impact of student volunteering across the country. Jordan was nominated for being actively involved in a wide variety of projects and initiatives, as well as thoroughly championing student volunteering within the local community.

Jordan provided a valuable link in the four months he spent in Zambia (as part of the Univesity's IDEALS Zambia Project) between the office staff, peer leaders, schools and students to make a positive impact with the Zambian children.

He has also:

  • Been Chair of the Students’ Union elections committee
  • been an Event manager of the RAG Paris Hitch
  • acted as a mentor as part of the Universities outreach work at a local school
  • helped to implement the Sports Volunteer Recognition Scheme within University of Bath’s Students' Union and as a Youth Sport Trust Team Leader and has led workshops and supported other young volunteers, running sessions at multiple residential courses.
