MSc Sport and Exercise Medicine
“I have been studying the MSc Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Bath via distance learning since September. So far, it has provided me with a solid grounding in sports and exercise medicine, which is refining my day-to-day clinical practice. The clinical elements of the programme are the most rewarding and valuable to my own development. I have gained a multidisciplinary approach to injury, and I've also had an insight into the role of allied professionals.
There are plenty of challenges with studying a part-time degree programme; mostly issues around time management. I am finding this aspect most difficult, as the volume of work for the programme requires a high number of hours per week. It is difficult to achieve full engagement whilst also on surgical rotation and a full on-call schedule.
To achieve the best results you will need to be very self-motivated, as the distance learning element can create a degree of isolation. The online forums however, have allowed me to keep in touch with fellow students and tutors on the programme which has helped. The residential weeks are also a great environment to interact with others on the programme.”
