	The Research Institute for the Care of Older People
	RICE is a Registered Charity (Ch No 1042559), opened in 1986 by our Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent.

The Institute's aim is to combine research with care so that the outcomes of our studies can be of practical benefit to older people. Our goals are:

To carry out and publish effective research:

To improve the quality of life for older people
To improve the understanding and use of drug treatments for older people
To improve knowledge of the ageing process (biological and psychological processes)

To run Memory Clinics:

To provide an in-depth assessment for people with memory problems, Alzheimer's disease and related conditions
To provide a focus for research

To offer appropriate education and/or training to elderly people, their families and carers and to professionals.

RICE has an excellent reputation and welcomes opportunity for collaborative research. We have active collaborations with universities, pharmaceutical companies, research charities and other groups both nationally and internationally.
