Conrad Earnest comes to the University of Bath after serving as the Director of Exercise Biology at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, LA (USA). His work has focused on a number of research themes involving the use of exercise and nutrition to improve health and exercise performance. Over time, he has examined the use of exercise as an intervention for sedentary and more complex patient populations including hypertensive men and women, overweight postmenopausal women, depression, aging (>75y) and individuals with elevated CRP, HbA1c, cancer, autonomic dysfunction, and insulin resistance.

Conrad also has an interest in nutrition and has pursued several lines of inquiry examining the effect of multivitamins on various risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease, including homocysteine and c-reactive protein, as well as the integration of omega-3 into functional foods. In his spare time, Conrad has performed a number of research studies on cyclists competing in the three week Grand Tours of Cycling: The Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a EspaƱa in an effort to describe the physiologic characteristics of the riders, as well as the exertional demands of one of the worlds most demanding sports.
