Research Passports

The NHS research Passport Scheme, introduced by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) streamlines the HR arrangements for non-NHS-researchers wishing to undertake research within the NHS.

The Research Passport is a standard form which provides evidence that the pre-engagement checks undertaken on a researcher conducting research in the NHS are in line with the NHS Employment Check Standards.

The form is completed by the researcher and her/his employer, and validated by a participating NHS organisation R&D Office. The validated Research Passport can then be presented to other participating NHS organisations in order for an Honorary Research Contract or Letter of Access to be issued by the organisation with no duplication of checks.
