  • Introduction to HE finance e-learning: available from the British Universities Finance Directors Group (bfdg). The module is available free of charge (registration required) and aims to give you a generic overview of finance in HE, including funding, areas of spending and reporting.
  • Essentials of budgeting e-learning: available from the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE). The module is available free of charge (registration required) and aims to develop your knowledge and confidence in planning, monitoring and reviewing budgets.

Development Toolkit: free online learning for all staff

The Development Toolkit has over 2,000 resources (including e-learning modules, top tips, and how to guides) to support your learning and development and provide on-demand job-related support.   

Sign-in using your usual username and password, and either search for a specific topic, or use the tabs to review resources within key themes such as leadership and strategy, managing people and teams, or personal skills and development.

An outline of the management and general programmes and courses planned for 2017/18 are detailed below for your information - courses are shown in the likely month they are due to run (subject to room and presenter availability).

You can view the course details by clicking on the course name, including checking who the course is for (i.e. managers, specific roles or all staff) and how to book a place. 

Course dates will be published once arrangements are finalised (approx. 6-8 weeks in advance), and included as a news item on the University homepage/Comms Friday newsletter. Please note that we do not hold waiting lists for courses unless specified within the course details.
